# Cookie Policy

## The short version

Shager uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for the service to work: to keep you signed in, and to connect a social account safely. We use **no** analytics cookies, **no** advertising cookies and **no** third-party cookies. That is why there is no cookie banner: the law does not require consent for strictly necessary cookies.

The cookies below are used by the app. Reading the public website (shager.ai) does not require any of them.

## The cookies we use

| Cookie | Purpose | Set by | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| `better-auth.session_token` | Keeps you signed in to the app | Shager (first party) | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| Other `better-auth.*` cookies | Support sign-in, for example during sign-in with Google | Shager (first party) | Minutes to the length of the session |
| `shager_connect_<network>` | Protects the connection of a social account (OAuth state), so that no one else can complete it in your name | Shager (first party) | Deleted when the connection finishes, and at most 24 hours |

Over HTTPS, some of these names may start with the `__Secure-` prefix. All of them are marked `HttpOnly` where possible, so scripts on the page cannot read them.

## What we do not use

- No analytics or tracking tools (no Google Analytics, no pixels).
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No cookies from social networks on our pages.

Short links created in Shager do not set cookies. How short-link clicks are counted is explained in the [Privacy Policy](/en/privacy).

## Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, you will not be able to sign in to the app or connect accounts. The public website will keep working.

## Changes

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this page and ask for your consent before setting it.
