# Schedule and publish to many X (Twitter) accounts from one post

One post to every X account you manage, through the official X API. X has one rule of its own: a link costs the network money, so posts with a link come from a monthly allowance per plan. Posts without a link are included.

## What connects on X

You connect an X account on X's permission screen. Shager receives a limited, encrypted access token for posting and replying, and never sees a password. Each X account is one account on your plan.

A client can connect their own X account through a connect link, without a Shager account.

Shager checks these rules in the composer before scheduling, and again before publishing. Anything that doesn't fit shows up right away, not after the network rejects it.

## Where the link goes, and how clicks are counted

On X a link in the text is clickable, but X charges the apps that publish through it much more for a post that carries a link. So on X the tracked link is not added automatically: you decide which post is worth a link, and write it in the text or the reply.

A post with a link counts against a monthly allowance per plan (table below). Shager detects a link in the text before sending and tells you when the allowance is used up. Clicks on our short link are counted per account, as on every network.

X charges more for a post that carries a link. So on X the tracked link is not added automatically, and a post you write a link into (in the text or the reply) counts against a monthly allowance. Posts without a link are included on every plan without limit.

## Frequently asked

### Why is there an allowance for link posts on X specifically?

Because X bills the apps that publish through it for every post, and several times more for a post with a link. Rather than raising the price of every account, we limited only the posts with a link. Posts without a link go out with no allowance on every plan.

### What counts as a link?

A web address in the post text or in the first reply, including one without https. Shager checks this before sending and marks the post as a link post.

### Is there a first comment on X?

Yes. It goes out as a reply from the same account right after the post. If the reply contains a link, the post counts as a link post.

### What happens when the allowance runs out?

The post doesn't go out to the X account, and Shager says why next to it: remove the link or upgrade. The other networks in the same post go out as usual, and the allowance renews when your plan month starts.

### Are threads supported?

A post and a first reply, yes. Longer threads, not yet.
