Compare / Buffer

Shager vs Buffer: pricing, AI agents and client workflows compared

Buffer is a simple, well-known publishing queue with a free plan of 3 channels. Shager starts in the same place, 3 accounts free, and parts ways on everything about distributing to many accounts, working with clients, and AI agents.

01In short

The difference, briefly

By Buffer's pricing page, the free plan includes 3 channels, and beyond that you pay per channel: Essentials about $6 per channel a month, Team about $12 per channel. First comment, UTM tags and reports are kept for paid plans. API and MCP are included.

On Shager, 10 accounts cost $9 on the Creator plan, then $1 per extra account. First comment and a tracked link per account are included on the free plan too, because they are what shows that distribution brings leads.

A first comment with the link and a tracked link per account on Free, not only on paid plans.
Clients without passwords
A client connect link and an approval link per post, on every plan.
Hebrew and shekels
Right-to-left interface, Hebrew writing assistant, holiday calendar and tax invoices.

04Fairness

When Buffer is the better fit

Three channels and a simple queue
For one person with 3 channels who wants to schedule and forget, Buffer's free plan is simple and familiar.
A tool your team already knows
If your team already works in Buffer and it is enough, switching has a cost. Switch when there is a reason: many accounts, clients, or an AI agent.
Networks Shager doesn't support yet
Shager publishes to the networks on its networks page and no more. If yours isn't there, check whether Buffer supports it.

06Questions

Questions about switching

What would I pay on Shager for what I have on Buffer?

Count channels. Up to 3: free. Up to 10: $9 on Creator. 11 to 25: $19 on Pro, or Creator plus $1 per extra account. No per-user pricing on any plan.

Is there a queue like Buffer's?

There is a calendar with scheduling per post and per account, including a different time per account. There is no automatic queue that fills fixed slots.

Can my team work in one account?

Yes, with unlimited users on every plan, including Free. Buffer's free plan is for one user.

Can I connect the same accounts to both tools?

Yes. Each tool's permission is separate, so you can try Shager on your existing accounts without disconnecting Buffer.

What about an AI agent?

Both tools have MCP. In Shager the agent also opens a sandbox by itself, requests human approval through a link and reads clicks per account, on every plan.

Try it on your own accounts, free.

3 accounts free forever, no card required. If it isn't a fit, you have lost nothing.
