The difference, briefly
By the public information we checked, Hootsuite removed its free plan in 2023, offers a 30-day trial, and prices per user: the entry plan about $99 per user a month for up to 10 accounts, and higher plans at $199 to $399 per user. We found no publishing through AI agents.
Shager has no per-user pricing on any plan: the whole team and every approving client work without limit. 10 accounts cost $9, and 60 accounts $69 on the Agency plan. The API and MCP server are included from the free plan.

04Fairness
When Hootsuite is the better fit
- A large organisation that buys per seat
- Hootsuite has a custom Enterprise plan. An organisation that budgets per user and wants a long-established vendor on an enterprise contract may prefer it.
- Needs beyond publishing
- Shager distributes and measures clicks. It doesn't run a shared inbox or track mentions across networks. If you need those, look at a broader suite.
- Networks Shager doesn't support yet
- Shager publishes to the networks on its networks page and no more.

Questions about switching
We are 4 users with 30 accounts. What is that on Shager?
The Agency plan: $69 a month, 60 accounts, unlimited users. Or the Pro plan (25 accounts, $19) plus 5 accounts at $1 each, so $24.
Is Shager suitable for a large organisation?
For networks with hundreds of accounts, yes: the Scale plan for 500 accounts and the Network plan beyond that, with a dedicated server and an SLA. For procurement and security we have a DPA, a subprocessor list and EU hosting.
Is there an approval process for posts?
Yes. An approval link per post that the client or manager opens without an account, and approves or requests a change. Only what is approved goes out.
Can we export data from Shager?
Yes, through the API, on every plan. Your agent or your BI tool reads publishing status and clicks per account.
Is there a free trial?
There is a free plan forever with 3 accounts, and a 14-day trial on every paid plan with no card.
